Buddy Walk

Today in Dothan we celebrated the 8th Annual Wiregrass Buddy Walk at Landmark Park. This event was family friendly with carnival games, Trunk R Treat, a rock wall, face painting, inflatables, & lots of other fun things to do. Clowns & characters were dressed & available for picture taking. Music was blaring & children, and adults, were dancing.

Alicia Sims (BW coordinator)

Opening ceremonies began around 10 AM. In this first picture you will see most all of the team members for the event. The second picture shows the crowd.

I participated in the Buddy Walk in support of my friend, Mike Devine. He and a friend of his were Team Double D. The left and right photos below show their team banners. The banner in the middle is the banner that was displayed and signed at their first ever Buddy Walk eight years ago.

When I walk in the mornings with Gayle, there are mornings when we see Mike & I get a great big hug and a hello. His neighbor is another good friend, Ms. Audrey. Such a fun, fun day together.

A lot of people joined in the activities & fun;
just visiting with one another.

Celebrating 30 Days of Yoga

For a while now I had seen a few pictures on Facebook of a friend who practiced yoga. I was amazed.

I recently spoke to her and commented on her yoga pictures/poses. She was very encouraging & offered advice on how to start. So I decided to give it a try. Now mind you, I will probably never be able to do the poses shown above that she does...she is quite younger than me.

So I started with Pre-Yoga...............for 2 days (a 20 & a 40 min session) and then began a 30 Day Yoga Challenge.

This was Day 15 for me.

Today I finished the 30-Day Challenge...

His 1st Hole-in-One

CONGRATULATIONS David Reed!!!

Two weeks as Alabama residents, and all is well. That's my sister & her hubs I'm speaking of.

Their new home is just a mere 10-12 minutes from ours...just far enough to keep us from "hovering" over each other. It's still all too crazy & weird knowing that she is right here...in my hometown...our hometown.

A lot of working on their part to get the home just right for them. Unpacking, arranging, rearranging, hanging, shifting, flooring (attic)...hey look, it's only 40+ years of accumulated STUFF. (Now I do believe she did some "purging & shifting (to children)" before moving, but she still had a LOT of stuff.)

They are having a wonderful time exploring "routes" & learning street names (Montgomery Hwy not 231N when talking...even though it is both but we Dothanites use the term Montgomery Hwy). Learn the language.

David has played several rounds of golf with Glenn, Garrett & Greg while Susan & I have been to the Little Miss National Peanut beauty pageant and junkin. Today she and I along with my best friend Sue will attend the Holiday of Hope event. We have lots of things on our list...should be fun!

They're visiting two churches right now enjoying Covenant United Methodist and their traditional service and then venturing over to my church for worship service. I sing in the choir, and it is still amazing to actually look out in the congregation and see them sitting in the pew. She knows my heart...and that is for her & David to worship ONLY where God would have them worship. So be it Covenant or Memphis or anywhere else they feel God is leading them, it's still nice to know that she's nearby. She even went with me to choir this week wanting to participate in our Christmas Music event.

Last night the four of us went out to eat. Another treat of them living nearby.

I know there will be more and more adventuresome outings in this journey with my sister and her hubs.

My Hope is Built.....

"So when God desired to show more convincingly
to the heirs of the promise
the unchangeable character of his purpose,
he guaranteed it with an oath,
so that by two unchangeable things,
in which it is impossible for God to lie,
we who have fled for refuge
might have strong encouragement to
hold fast to the hope set before us.
We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul,
a hope that enters into the inner place
behind the curtain,
where Jesus has gone
as a forerunner on our behalf…"

BREATHING WHEN IT IS TOO HARD....

...at that moment when all the air is sucked out of you, and you struggle. You can't seem to find an escape...an escape that is desperately needed....for air, for life.

Here They Come...

Today's the day that the Reeds are moving to Dothan. The movers packed all their possessions yesterday and are expected to arrive sometime today. David & Susan along with their daughter & son-in-law left Bennettsville this morning.

Thankful for the new journey in my life as my sister will be living in the same town.

*not their truck...but could be!

"A Historical Flood"

Hurricane Joaquin

"Predicted to miss the U.S.,
water connected to the storm
