Goodwin Family Annual Trip...

Yep...that's me on the left hand side struggling to keep the water out of my mouth. This was an exciting adventure that Glenn and I took with my sister and her husband (Susan/David) yesterday. We ended our vacation time with a white water rafting excursion.

My parents, sister, brother and I had talked about going on a trip as a family like this but never made the effort to do anything about our talk so we finally did something 3 years ago. We planned a trip to the Smoky Mountains...ONLY our parents and us siblings (no kids/grandkids allowed...cruel aren't we). Glenn found the neatest cabin with great views, and we have stayed there each year. We are so accustomed to this cabin that we haven't really considered any other place to stay. There's plenty of room even if someone needs S-P-A-C-E from everyone.

This was our third year the four of us with our parents (and brother for the first trip) have traveled to the Smoky Mountains to spend several days together. We all arrive on Wednesday very tired, hungry and eager to share news about each of our branch families. After hours of catching up with the news and sampling everyone's snacks, we find our rooms and "sack out".

From shopping to golfing (for the guys) we have a great time. Each year we try to do something different. This year was the rafting and it was awesome. I was so afraid I would loose a contact from all the water that I knew would be coming in on me. A few times I thought I'd lost one but so what...as long as I didn't lose myself to the water hole. Cathy...I kept my feet hunkered in under the guy in front of me. I did remember what you said.

Yak...Yak...Yak...at PCB

We talked, shopped, ate, talked some more, sat on the beach, ate, sat on the balcony, shopped some more and just relaxed doing things we wanted to do without having any responsibilities other than meeting our needs/wants. Whew...What a great week!

Sue and I go way back. We became friends when my son, who is now 27, was attending the school where she taught first grade. Our friendship was so immediate. You know how you meet someone for the first time, and know that a friendship will grow with truth, honesty, and a listening ear. She's one of the few friends I have who fell into my heart friendship pocket.

We don't see each other as much as we'd like because our jobs are at different schools and our lives are so busy with our families. Recently we made it "our business" to meet once a month at a favorite restaurant. I believe this PCB trip will become an annual vacation for us.

With a breeze on the beach, on the balcony, and through the vents in the car...we'll definitely make another PCB trip for some more yak...yak...yak!!!

Here I go again…music, music, music!

I love music. For those close friends of mine, you know how I sing out and love to move with the beat. There are just so many good old songs that made me who I am today but I can’t keep up with the many songs that I want to share with you. So sorry to say that…my Tuesday Tunes will need to disappear because my OCD is kickin’ in pretty good.

My postings are still very special to me and even some of my friends don’t understand where I’m coming from with this “music issue” I have. Before I post I always make sure that the music reflects the mood in which I wrote. I know that crazy but it’s who I am.

I received my hometown newspaper trecently, and there was an article about a dance place that I once spoke of in a blog---Coachman Four. Oh, the memories that come to mind and the stories that I could tell about a wonderful place where we all gathered to dance. The Shag was the most famous dance of all. Oooooooooooooooh…what fun we had!

I miss my dancing days with my friends.
